    INGREDIENTS 

    • 1 cup flat beer
    • 2 tablespoons butter
    • 2 tablespoons sugar
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 2 1/4 teaspoons yeast

    DIRECTIONS

    • Put beer, butter, sugar, salt, flour, and yeast in a bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select Dough setting, and press Start.
    • Remove dough from bread machine when cycle is complete. Roll or press dough to cover a prepared pizza pan. Brush lightly with olive oil. Cover and let stand 15 minutes.
    • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
    • Spread sauce and toppings on top of dough. Bake until crust is lightly brown and crispy on the outside, about 24 minutes.

    • Place ingredients in the pan of the bread machine in the order suggested by the machine’s manufacturer. Butter should be in corners to avoid contact with yeast. Set at basic loaf and desired crust.

    INGREDIENTS

    2/3 cup water

    1 tablespoon cooking oil

    2 cups bread flour

    3/4 teaspoon pepper

    1/2 teaspoon sugar

    1/2 teaspoon salt

    1 teaspoon active dry yeast

    1 slightly beaten egg white

    Sesame seed

    DIRECTIONS

    1. Add water, oil, flour, pepper, sugar, salt, and yeast to bread machine according to manufacturer’s directions for a 1-pound loaf. Select dough cycle. When cycle is complete, remove dough from machine. Cover and let rest 10 minutes.
    2. Divide dough in half. On a lightly floured surface roll each half into a 12×8-inch rectangle. Cut lengthwise into 1/2-inch-wide strips.
    3. Combine egg white and 1 tablespoon water. Before separating strips, brush dough with egg-white mixture; sprinkle with sesame seed. Place strips about 1/2 inch apart on a lightly greased baking sheet. Shape into squiggles, or make a loop at one end, or twist dough. Bake in a 400 degree F oven about 10 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on wire rack. Makes 32 breadsticks.

    DIRECTIONS

    INGREDIENTS

    1/3 cup milk

    1/3 cup apple juice

    1/3 cup margarine or butter, cut up

    1 egg

    3 cups bread flour

    3 tablespoons sugar

    3/4 teaspoon salt

    1-1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast or bread machine yeast

    1 14-ounce jar spiced apple rings, drained

    1 slightly beaten egg white

    1 tablespoon water

    1 cup sifted powdered sugar

    1/2 teaspoon vanilla

    Milk

    DIRECTIONS

    1. Add first 8 ingredients to bread machine according to the manufacturers directions. Select the dough cycle. When cycle is complete, remove dough. Punch down. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes.
    2. Meanwhile, for filling, place apples in blender container. Cover; blend until nearly smooth. Mix egg white and water; set aside.
    3. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough into a 16×12-inch rectangle. Cut into three 16×4-inch strips. Spread about 1/4 cup filling down center of each strip. Brush some egg white mixture on edges. Bring long edges together over filling and pinch to seal. To shape, line up the filled ropes, seams down, 1 inch apart on a greased baking sheet. Starting in middle, loosely braid by bringing left rope under center rope. Bring right rope under new center rope. Repeat to end. On other end, braid by bringing outside ropes alternately over center rope to center. Press ends together; tuck under. Brush with more egg white mixture. Cover; let rise for 45 to 60 minutes or until nearly double. Brush with remaining egg white mixture. Bake in a 350 degree F. oven about 30 minutes or until bread sounds hollow when tapped. If necessary, cover loosely with foil last 10 to 15 minutes to prevent overbrowning. Remove; cool on wire rack.
    4. Mix powdered sugar and vanilla. Stir in enough milk (3 to 4 teaspoons) to make a glaze of drizzling consistency. Drizzle over braid. Makes 1 loaf (16 servings.)

    1 cup water

    2 teaspoons cooking oil

    1 tablespoon water

    Poppy seeds or sesame seeds (optional)

    DIRECTIONS

    1. Add first 6 ingredients to a 1-1/2- or 2-pound bread machine according to the manufacturer’s directions. Select the dough cycle. When cycle is complete, remove dough from machine. Punch down. Cover and let rest 10 minutes.
    2. Divide dough into 9 portions. Working quickly, shape each into a smooth ball. Punch a hole in center; pull gently to make a 2-inch hole. Place on a greased large baking sheet. Cover; let rise for 20 minutes (start timing after first bagel is shaped). Broil, 5 inches from heat, 3 to 4 minutes, turning once (tops should not brown)
    3. Meanwhile, in large pot bring 6 cups water and 1 tablespoon sugar to boiling. Reduce heat. Add bagels, 4 or 5 at a time, and simmer for 7 minutes, turning once. Drain on paper towels. (If some bagels fall slightly, they may rise when baked.) Place on a well-greased large baking sheet. Mix the egg white and the 1 tablespoon water; brush over bagels. If desired, sprinkle with poppy or sesame seeds. Bake in a 375 degree F oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until tops are golden. Remove from baking sheets; cool on racks. Makes 9 bagels.

    INGREDIENTS

    1 cup water

    1/2 cup mashed banana (1 large)

    1 egg

    3 tablespoons butter, cut up

    3-1/4 cups bread flour

    1/4 cup granulated sugar

    1 teaspoon salt

    1 package active dry yeast or 2-1/4 teaspoon bread machine yeast

    2 teaspoons butter, melted

    1 tablespoon cinnamon-sugar

    1 recipe Icing (see recipe below)

    DIRECTIONS

    1. Add the first eight ingredients to bread machine according to manufacturer’s directions. Select dough cycle. When cycle is complete, remove dough from bread machine. Punch dough down; cover and let rest 10 minutes.
    2. On a lightly floured surface roll dough about 1/2 inch thick. Cut and shape into eight to twelve 3- to 3-1/2-inch long egg shapes (Reroll as needed). Place on lightly greased baking sheets. Brush with the melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar. (To make your own cinnamon-sugar, combine 1 tablespoon granulated sugar and 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon.)
    3. Cover; let rise in a warm place until nearly double in size (about 30 minutes). Preheat oven to 350 degree F. Bake rolls about 15 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on wire racks. Prepare Icing; pipe or drizzle onto rolls to resemble Easter eggs. Makes 8 to 12 rolls.
